KEY POINTS:
Weather permitting, New Zealanders could tomorrow be swallowing the first of the new season's Bluff oysters.
The season opened today and all indications are that the oysters are looking good.
Kings Fish Market owner Greg King said it planned to open tomorrow afternoon to sell the first of the season's catch.
He told the Southland Times a survey had thrown up plenty of big, plump oysters, and so as long as the volumes were there it should be a good season.
Kings was still waiting for a price indication from its supplier so had not set prices yet.
Last season a dozen fresh oysters fetched between $18 to about $21 in Invercargill.
