Commuters in and around Auckland are being urged to show patience as traffic is hindered by several gridlocks.
Traffic has been sluggish around the city this morning, due to large crowds heading to The Block open day in Point Chevalier and the Armageddon Expo at Greenlane.
But the troubles have also spread to the motorway network, due partly to crashes at Penrose and Papakura, and now as further afield as Warkworth.
Early this afternoon, northbound traffic out of Auckland was backed up for several kilometres and very slow moving, with significant delays from Puhoi to Warkworth.
A Police spokesman said there was no reason for the problem other than the great weather and the holiday weekend.
