A new 49m catamaran, described as New Zealand's largest privately owned ferry, arrived at its new home this week when it sailed through the Hauraki Gulf to Auckland.
Operator Subritzky said the $8 million Seacat, which was built in Australia, could carry 500 passengers and 55 vehicles. It will begin its Half Moon Bay to Waiheke run next week.
