Sunday was a busy day at Mahunga with the Watt Cup being held on the course, as well as Masterton Cosmopolitan Club playing Palmerston North, and our own competition. The ladies also had a team playing Tilson Salver at Carterton. They came up against Carterton on their home track and had a 2-4 loss.
The club competition for the day was a Stableford round. Conditions were testing with no sign of the sun and continual dew on the greens all day meant some players had a few more putts than usual. Raymond Cocks excelled in the conditions to take out group 1 with 40 points. He was followed by Shane Stewart on 38 points, and Frankie Martin and Lance Duckett on 37 points. Robin Britt took group 2 by lot with 38 points from Ron Hutcheson, and next were Fred Brittain and Heather Ousey with 36 points. Holes in 2 were scored by Heather and Bill Ousey, Rose Alexander, and Lance Duckett. Lukey's Lucky Last went to Syd Whittington with 25 points.

What will you do for golf? Four married guys go golfing on Sunday. During the 3rd hole the following conversation ensued: First Guy: "Man, you have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out golfing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the house next weekend." Second Guy: "That's nothing, I had to promise my wife that I will build her a new deck for the pool." Third Guy: "Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I will remodel the kitchen for her." They continue to play the hole when they realized that the fourth guy has not said a word. So they ask him. "You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come golfing this weekend. What's the deal?" Fourth Guy: "I don't want to talk about it. Let's just say that the foundation for the new house is being poured next Tuesday."
