Belinda Welch's body found

The body of missing Christchurch woman Belinda Welch has been identified in Thailand.

Her stepfather, John Croft, said last night police had called him on Sunday to tell him of the identification.

He did not know where the body was identified or where it was being held.

Belinda Welch, 26, and her husband Andrew, 42, disappeared after their beachfront bungalow in Khao Lak, southern Thailand, was swamped by the Boxing Day tsunami.

Mr Croft said he was confident Mr Welch's body would be found.
