Carol Beaumont has returned to Parliament on the Labour Party list, due to the resignation of Charles Chauvel.
Ms Beaumont, from Auckland, made it onto the party's list in the 2008 election but failed to get back into Parliament when Labour lost support in the 2011 election.
Mr Chauvel announced his resignation last month to take up a position with the United Nations in New York.
