Police and the coast guard have traced a mysterious beacon activation on a boat to a driveway on the Waimarama coast, Hawke's Bay.
A spokeswoman said they were called to the scene about 8.40am on Wednesday after a boat that was in the area for fishing activated its beacon.
A search helicopter was also sent to the scene. The boat turned out to be sitting in a driveway, a coastguard spokesman said.
