Beach getting extra sand

A $4 million project to bulk out St Heliers Beach in Auckland with 35,000cu m of sand starts today.

Beach access will be retained along a metalled track but the children's playground will be closed for seven months.

Auckland City Council has also let a $5.8 million stormwater upgrade contract to coincide with the beach project.
