A motorbike crash on Waitarere Beach has left a man with serious head injuries.
The 26-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle on the beach near Levin just before 1pm today and was taken to Palmerston North hospital.
According to Steve Yanko, operations manager for St John Ambulance Manawatu, a rescue helicopter attended the accident but the injured man was taken to hospital by road instead.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident and the Serious Crash Unit are investigating the cause.
