A man has been pulled unconscious from an Auckland beach and revived by bystanders, police say.
Police northern communications shift commander Inspector Ben Offner said a 60-year-old man had been pulled unconscious from the water on Cheltenham beach, on Auckland's north shore.
Ambulance communications team leader Brett Tobeck said an ambulance was called to the scene at 2.30pm and the man had been taken to North Shore Hospital as a status one patient.
The incident was described as a "near drowning'', he said.
Once revived on the beach, the man was "spitting out a lot of water''.
