Lakeview School's Alanah Molina will be one of the many school patrol officers out when school returns next week, as Wairarapa Road Safety Council reminds motorists to stay safe around schools.
Alanah was recognised as the Patrolee of the Year 2012 and was awarded the Breadcraft Shield and miniature cup along with a $200 sports voucher.
WRSC manager Dave Ryan said school patrols are a vital part of road safety around schools.
"They are out there in all weathers helping make sure children get to school safely and it's great that a local business such as Breadcraft supports them in this way."
Mr Ryan said it was an opportune time to remind drivers they are required to stop when school patrol signs are put out and must remain stopped until all signs have been pulled in.
