A magnitude five earthquake has been felt across much of Bay of Plenty.
People on the Raukumara Peninsula have also reported shaking from the tremor, at around 2.20 this morning.
The quake was centred 40 kilometres north of Te Kaha, and was 50 kilometres deep.
