Fire engines and a helicopter are fighting a scrub fire in Northland which is threatening an area with freshly felled pine trees.
The Fire Service was called at 1pm to the blaze, which is 20km south-east of Glinks Gully, near Dargaville.
The fire is burning across an area about a hectare in size, and is only 50 metres away from a patch of recently cut pine trees, said Northern Fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips.
"No houses or people are threatened, but there is a lot of forestry in the area," he said.
Five fire engines from Dargaville and Te Kopuru and a helicopter with monsoon buckets from Whangarei are trying to bring the blaze under control.
