Historic Shed 11 on Queens Wharf is likely to be saved from demolition.
The shed was to have been knocked down to make way for Auckland's 'Party Central' for the Rugby World Cup next year.
But two new sites have been earmarked: Okahu Bay at Orakei and Wynyard Corner in the city.
Okahu Bay Users Group chairman Dr Ian Calhaem says the shed will be a base for clubs and retain the current businesses that operate there.
The Ice House, an Auckland University business unit, and Sea+City, a company behind a development at Wynyard Corner, want the shed on land there.
Ice House chief executive Andrew Hamilton says they are hoping to confirm things over the next six weeks.
