KEY POINTS:
GS Yuasa, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation began collaboration in May to set up a joint venture company to manufacture large capacity and high performance lithium-ion batteries.
On December 12, Lithium Energy Japan was officially established. The venture aims to broaden the technology base of such batteries. It will also form part of Mitsubishi's development programmes for future electric-powered production vehicles.
