Battery causes airport bomb scare

A bomb scare which closed Palmerston North Airport yesterday afternoon appears to have been due to a battery.

The airport was evacuated after a suspicious article - which police inquiries suggested was a battery - was left unclaimed.

The airport was expected to re-open by 6pm.
