A man walked up to an armed police officer shouting "shoot me, shoot me", after a street fight with bats and axes in suburban Nelson yesterday.
Police received numerous calls from residents in the suburb of Stoke reporting a group of 10 men fighting, armed with bats and axes, about 4.45pm, Inspector Steve Greally said.
When police arrived there was no one fighting, but two men were arrested shortly after.
A 23-year-old man initially resisted arrest and approached an armed police officer saying "shoot me, shoot me".
The officer pepper-sprayed him before he was arrested and charged with possessing a knife and resisting arrest.
