KEY POINTS:
A man police have nicknamed the 'Basketball Burglar', after he allegedly robbed Hamilton houses using a basketball as a prop , is now facing more charges.
The 35-year-old man was remanded after he appeared in Hamilton District Court last week on two burglary charges.
Police earlier alleged the man used the recovery of a basketball as a pretext to enter properties.
Constable Steve Wilson, the officer in charge of the Hamilton Burglary Squad, said today as a result of media attention more members of the public had come forward with information.
"Following information from the public he has now been charged with five burglaries, resisting police, preparing to commit a crime in a public place and possession of instruments to commit burglary.
He also faced drugs charges after a quantity of cannabis was allegedly found at his home.
The man's next appearance is scheduled for March 4.
