The Tauranga policewoman who was bashed with a wheel rim when party-goers became rioters at the weekend has been released from intensive care.
Acting Senior Sergeant Darryl Brazier of Tauranga said she had been moved to a general ward where she would remain for sometime.
"She is recovering well and has been inundated with visitors," he told NZPA.
The policewoman suffered a fractured skull, shoulder and nose injuries in the attack. Four male officers received less serious injuries.
A 27-year-old charged with assaulting her is due back in court on Monday.
