Bashed man 'stable'

A man seriously assaulted outside a pub in Ranfurly in central Otago on Saturday is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Alexandra police said the victim was Alan Kenneth Scott, a 54-year-old agricultural contractor who was a well-known Ranfurly resident.

Police want to speak to anyone with information about a silver Mitsubishi car with five occupants between Alexandra and Ranfurly on Friday evening.
