A single punch outside a Botany Downs pub left a man fighting for his life in Middlemore Hospital last night.
The man, thought to be aged in his thirties, was punched just before 8pm, an ambulance spokesman said.
The blow knocked him down and his head struck the ground.
He had not regained consciousness, and his injuries were life-threatening.
Police said they arrived at the Ti Rakau Drive scene to find a group of about 50 patrons from the adjacent Headin' Home Bar and Grill.
Another man involved in the dispute was said to have fled the scene.
