A 54-year-old man who suffered critical head injuries in an alleged baseball bat assault in Gisborne last month is reported to be making progress in his recovery.
The man was one of three people at a house confronted by people from the Bay of Plenty in the early hours of September 20.
The others at the house were also injured.
The seriously hurt man spent some time in the intensive care unit at Waikato Hospital.
He has since been transferred to a rehabilitation centre in Auckland for further treatment.
