Auckland City Council has received a resource consent application for a temporary headquarters for the Barmy Army during the Lions Tour.
The applicant, Elite Events Ltd, has proposed to host the event at the Viaduct Harbour Marine Village in Halsey Street.
Council consultants are currently reviewing the application and once sufficient information is received, a report will be prepared for independent planning commissioners to consider, the council said.
Any liquor and food licences required by the applicant are dependant on the outcome of the resource consent application, officials added in a statement.
As many as 20,000 Lions fans are expected in New Zealand for the 11-match tour, with most coming later in the series for the three test matches. The Lions squad arrived in Auckland today.
