A woman working at a Tauranga bar was grabbed and threatened with a sawn-off shotgun in a robbery early yesterday morning.
The woman was cashing up at Cruzaz Bar, on the corner of Otumoetai and Grange roads, when the armed man demanded money about 12.15am, Detective Sergeant Eddie Lyttle said.
She handed over the cash and the man fled onto Otumoetai Rd.
Police did not know which direction the man went but believe he may have got into a vehicle.
Mr Lyttle said a vehicle with its lights on was parked opposite the bar about the time of the robbery.
The man was wearing camouflage-patterned trousers and a camouflage jacket, and was carrying a bag with a shoulder strap.
He was described as about 1.67 metres tall.
Police would like to hear from anyone in the area who may have seen the robbery or a camouflage-wearing man.
