A New Plymouth bar was held up less than two hours into Christmas day by armed robbers who then fled on a motorbike.
The Treehouse bar in New Plymouths' Devon Street West was robbed around 1.15am this morning by two offenders wielding a firearm and wearing dark clothes and helmets.
The bar had shut at midnight and staff had began to clean and close up when the offenders entered.
New Plymouth police Detective Sergeant Brent Matuku said staff were forced to hand over a sum of cash before the offenders fled on a motorbike, travelling west on Devon Street West heading towards the Blagdon Shops.
"Fortunately there has been no physical injury suffered by staff, but they have been severely traumatised by the incident.''
