A 22-year-old Masterton man who has at least twice previously ignored court driving bans has admitted to driving again, driving at speed and failing to stop for police who followed him with flashing lights and sirens on.
Liam Antonio Watkins, who was disqualified from driving for six months on June 27 and caught driving on July 25 and again disqualified for a further six-month period, pleaded guilty to another charge of driving while disqualified when he appeared before Judge Stephen Harrop in Masterton District Court.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police and dangerous driving, along with a breach of community work charge.
Police prosecutor Jodie Lawrence told the court police saw Watkins driving on Westbush Rd about 3.30pm on October 24 and attempted to stop him with flashing lights as they followed him, clocking him at speeds of 90km/h in a 50km/h zoned area.
"The vehicle was then seen turning right into Cornwall St, cutting the intersection at speed where he overtook another vehicle near a controlled railway crossing."
