The closure of Kaipara Harbour's scallop fishery has been extended for another year.
Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton said yesterday the fishery had not rebuilt sufficiently for the ban to be lifted.
A two-year ban applying to all amateur scallop fishers - customary and recreational fishers - was put in place in 2005.
