KEY POINTS:
The Royal New Zealand Ballet will perform for the first time in Stewart Island this Sunday.
A lack of facilities means it is impossible to perform a full-scale production on the island, so instead the dancers will present the company's Day in the Life programme, which aims to give an insight into a typical day of an RNZB dancer.
Six dancers will run through a rehearsal from the company's repertoire and perform excerpts from Paquita and Equilibrium, giving the audience a taste of both classical and contemporary works.
Artistic director Gary Harris and the dancers will be on hand to answer questions after the performance, which will be held at the Stewart Island Community Centre. It is a koha-entry event and is open to the general public.
The company will perform Day in the Life in Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands on April 20.
Last year, the RNZB's Tutus on Tour saw more than 28,300 people attend the performance in 48 centres nationwide, with 24 shows selling out.
