Ball raises $75,000

The Auckland Cup Charity Ball at Ellerslie last night raised $75,000 for the Starship Foundation.

One lucky bidder forked out $17,000 to have actor Lucy Lawless and journalist and radio host Kerre Woodham waitress a corporate function in the near future.

Lawless had snubbed academy award parties to attend the $250-a- head ball.
