Mark Morton Parker

My love goes out to the family and friends of Mark Parker who have lost someone very special. I remember him from University, always with a smile, always polite and kind. Rest in peace Mark. xoxox Rachel.

I only knew Mark for four months but he had a very positive impact on my life. Whilst working at Schroders Mark trained me on reconcilliations, a thankless task that Mark took to with patience, diligence and wonderful humour. I warmed to him immediately and considered him a mate before the first day was through.
With our mutual love of cricket we developed a good friendship and though cricket was never far from our conversation he never volunteered information of his own considerable ability. Through his modesty, generosity and inner calm Mark displayed characteristics that I strive for in myself. Such is my respect for him that when confronted with a difficult situation I sometimes ask myself how Mark would handle it. Mark is no longer with us physically but by understanding and practicing his values he will still be able to offer me guidance. Mark improved the lives of all who met him, my thoughts are with his family as they mourn a very special person. Dan Wood.

I don't think it's possible to describe the person that Parks was, no words can do him justice. It was an absolute pleasure to know him, he was an exceptional person. Parks was one of a kind and we all feel proud to call him our friend. Our thoughts are with his family in this sad time. Lauren Player, Kelly Debnam.

To the Parker family. My heart and thoughts go out to you through this terribly tough time. I was fortunate to meet Parks through Kate during the jovial post University years in Wellington. What a truely fabulous bloke - May we always remember. Anna Palairet

To the Parker Family and my nearest and dearest friend Kate Morrison - My thoughts are with you all at this time... I was fortunate enough to meet Mark many times during my stay in London. We all had some fantastic times together... I remember him mostly for his friendly - welcoming grin, his curious manner of which forced him to question everything, his love of sleep and of good food, his enthusiastic musical skills and most of all his sensitive, passionate manner of which we all warmed to. We are all very proud of you Mark.. In honour of your memory I say a Prayer for you and those closest to you...Dear God We celebrate spring's returning and the rejuvenation of the natural world. Let us be moved by this vast and gentle insistence that goodness shall return, that warmth and life shall succeed, and help us to understand our place within this miracle. Let us see that as a bird now builds its nest, bravely, with bits and pieces, so we must build human faith. It is our simple duty; it is the highest art; it is our natural and vital role within the miracle of spring; the creation of faith. Amen. Karen Taylor. ktaylor@select-education.com.au (Thursday Oct 17)
To the Parker family. I had the pleasure of knowing Parks at University and also worked with him in London. He was the most fantastic guy and I am proud to have had him as a friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this heartbreaking time. Leah Bernie.

We met Mark when his Uncle John Parker, the NZ cricketer, came to stay with us. He was with us a fortnight ago and we went out with his sister, Sarah, for a fabulous meal. Mark was on his way home for a summer playing cricket, and hoped to return to UK next summer to try and turn semi-professional. We are so sad. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Grant Craies and Rebecca Caroe. rebecca@pembridge.net (Thursday Oct 17)
My love and condolences to the family and friends of Mark Parker. My thoughts are with you all. He will be remembered always. Bruce Crane brucecrane@ekno.com (Wednesday Oct 16)
To the Parker Family, I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you. My friend and I stayed with Mark and Kate when we first arrived in London in 2000. Two kiwi girls fresh of the plane from NZ, tired and bewildered. We were greeted at the door of the flat in Archway with a huge hug and Mark's beaming smile. He cooked us a fantastic dinner and even let us borrow one of his many pillows for the night!! He was very aware that we were homesick and did his best to humour us.....and that is the way I'll remember him. A lovely big smile and a huge heart.
To laugh often and love much;
to win the respect of intelligent persons
and the affection of children,
to earn the approbation of honest critics;
to appreciate beauty;
to give of one's self,
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to have played and laughed with enthusiasm
and sung with exultation;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived --
that is to have succeeded.

My condolences to the Parker Family. My brother and I knew Mark as a 10-13 year old. We are both away from NZ and remember him as a great guy that had an incredibly positive attitude about everything he did and someone that could turn his hand at any sport and look like an expert. I'm sure that didn't change as he grew. Aaron & Nick Gray - aaron@swim-guru.com (Wednesday Oct 16)

I'm trying to contact a New Zealand friend who has been living in Bali for many years (more than 17) but have lost contact numbers.
Lenita Dawson
is married to an Indonesian and they have two children, Sarieta (15 yrs?) and Jack who must be 4 or 5 now. I doubt Lenita or any of her family were at or near the Sari Club or Paddy's on the night of the bombing but would like to know for sure. So any ex-pat kiwis living in Bali have you seen Lenita recently. She and her family keep to themselves pretty much, they live up near the Oberoi (or they did when we last saw them 2 years ago). Any news would be great. Angela Bruce.

Re: David Creecy.
This note is to send all our thoughts and prayers with the families who have lost someone or dealing with injuried victims. I want to let
Patrick Shepheard and Andrew Warrington
, God Bless them for their heroic efforts in helping the burnt man from N.C. It has been the worst nightmare to see all the precious lives lost. 9-11 is still ectched in my memory. I recieved a copy of an article from your paper where Mr.Shepheard was searching for the N.C. man. Tell him I consider them angels watching over my badly burnt brother and am grateful for their staying with him and getting him out of the Sari Club. My heart goes out to all who have lost their love ones and are searching. Through this I must believe that their are more good in this world than bad and people's love is what will sustain them through this. My brother is in Critical but stable condition, he is on a resporator to breath. He remembers and has anixety attacks which causes him to have trouble breathing. He has 70 per cent of his body burnt but he is fighting for his life. Patrick and Andrew gave my brother a will to fight and I thank God they were there. My name is Alexander Shenker, and I live in New York
City. I would like to share in the grief of the
families whose loved ones were lost in Bali, and
express my deepest condolences. I work within the
shadow of the ghost of the World Trade Center, about
600 metres away from the site, and it is very easy for
me to empathize with the survivors of the tragedy, as
well as the families of the victims. Time will heal,
but nobody should ever experience that which time must
now heal, and I am very disturbed by the violence and
the terror that so many people are now affected by. In May I tramped all throughout New Zealand, fell in love with the country and the people, and for the first time since September 2001 was able to forget the smoking hole less than a kilometer away from my office. New Zealand was so different from my country, so far away!
Such beautiful people, so kind and noble, and strong,
it felt like a different universe, where terrorism did
not exist. But then the terror attack in Islamabad caused the abrupt return of the Black Caps, and my naive idyll was quickly brought crashing back to the ground. For several days the radio and the newspapers were aflame with the accounts of the explosion, the effect it had on the players, and on all Kiwis. Indirectly terrorism affected the people of New Zealand, and made me realize what a small world we live in. Last Saturday the world shrank again. My love and wishes of peace are with you. I am seeking information regarding
a touch team from Glenfield, Auckland called "Jokers"
, they were on our flight to Bali on the 12th of October and we were talking in the custom line at Denpasar airport a few hours before the blast. As I had been to Bali a few times they asked what was good to see and do and we talked about the nightlife, the Sari was discussed and the boys were keen on going out. I would like to know if these six guys are alright. I walked through the distruction early Sunday morning and will never forget what I saw, my sympathy to all those whom have lost someone or been injured.
