A head-on smash near Balclutha last Thursday has claimed a second life.
Dunedin police said Miemie Cloete, 17, died in Dunedin Hospital on Saturday morning from injuries sustained in the crash.
Ms Cloete was the driver of a southbound car, carrying four other Telford Rural Polytechnic students, involved in a head-on crash on the Balclutha-Owaka highway about 8.50pm on Thursday.
The driver of the northbound car, Or Eliyahu Ben-David, a 22-year-old Israeli tourist from Tel Aviv, died at the scene.
Initial reports suggested the tourist was on the wrong side of the road, police said.
