Bail upsets father of killed woman

Gary Oakes, the father of slain former Whakatane woman Karen Oakes, is upset the man charged with her murder has been granted bail.

Mother-of-three Karen Cynthia Oakes, 28, died early on December 24 following a domestic incident. Her body was found in the garage of her Hamilton home.

Her partner of five years, Alexander Patrick Ryan, has been charged with her murder. Judge Anne McAloon suppressed details of Ryan's bail application and the conditions under which she granted it.
