A judge has refused to grant bail to a 16-year-old Rotorua boy charged with raping a 32-year-old female tourist, saying he was in danger of re-offending.
Judge Christopher Harding said in the Tauranga Youth Court that the boy had a long list of prior offences and his offending was increasing in seriousness.
The teen faces charges of rape, unlawful sexual connection, threatening to kill and cause grievous bodily harm, and burglary after the attack on the woman in a Mt Maunganui house on Sunday night.
