A man who allegedly helped two fugitives, including a convicted paedophile, go on the run from police for six days before being hunted down in a remote mountain range has been granted bail at a court appearance this morning.
Jamie Campbell, who police say also goes by Alexander Paul Jones, was arrested with parole abscondees Ivan Andrew Campbell and Jaydon Galland in the remote Arthur's Pass National Park yesterday.
The 25-year old has been charged with helping both men abscond from Christchurch residential facility, Salisbury Foundation, last Wednesday, and fraudulently using a Z fuel card the same day.
When he appeared at Christchurch District Court this morning, police did not oppose bail.
Defence counsel Rupert Glover asked for his client to be remanded on bail for two weeks while he applies for legal aid.
