Police investigating the murder of Marton grandmother Mona Morriss are appealing for sightings of a crochet bag missing from her home.
The handmade bag, a light brown "flax" colour, was about 20cm long.
It was not found during the police examination of the flat where Mrs Morriss was stabbed to death. Operation Wellington head Detective Sergeant Tim Smith said anyone who had recently been given or found such a bag should contact his team.
"Also, if there are people who have observed Mrs Morriss using such a bag, please contact us."
Over the past week police recruits canvassing the area had received about 100 new pieces of information about the murder on January 3 or 4.
"The killer is either a local or someone with some local knowledge," said Mr Smith. "They're no stranger to Marton."
