Bad smell sparks search

Reports of a "dreadful smell" raised the prospect of finding the body of missing Christchurch woman Emma Campbell but the search proved fruitless.

The odour on the Harry Ell Walkway, above where the 29-year-old's car crashed in Christchurch's Port Hills early on May 1, was probably that of a dead sheep.
