It was a bad night on North Island roads, with four people killed.
One person died in a two car crash on State Highway 29 in the lower Kaimais. Three others were taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries.
There were no survivors from a crash between a van and a car at Rangiriri in the Waikato.
The serious crash unit is investigating how three people died in the smash on Glen Murray Road at about 8.40pm.
