KEY POINTS:
A chihuahua that survived an attack by a larger dog in Stratford yesterday later died as its owner crashed while rushing her pet dog to a vet.
The dog, called Bodine, was being driven into Stratford by its owner - a grandmother in her 70s - when it stopped breathing, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
The woman became distracted by Bodine's condition and lost control, flipping the vehicle.
It was unclear whether Bodine died as a result of the crash or because of her attack injuries, but police were relieved to find the woman and her grand-daughter were unharmed in the crash.
