The man charged with the murder of German backpacker Birgit Brauer entered no pleas to 11 charges in New Plymouth District Court yesterday.
Michael Scott Wallace, 44, appeared before Judge Jane McMeeken, of Christchurch.
Defence lawyer Turitea Bolstad told the court that she was still waiting for the disclosure of about 2000 documents.
Judge McMeeken remanded Wallace in custody to reappear next month.
Wallace is also charged with kidnapping, two charges of burglary, two of drunk driving, two of driving while forbidden, theft of a vehicle, dishonestly taking a vehicle and giving a false name to police.
Birgit Brauer's body was found at Lucys Gully near Oakura on September 20, sparking a major manhunt.
Wallace was arrested on October 8.
