Police are not treating the death of a baby girl in Whangaparaoa as suspicious.
Police spokeswoman said a post-mortem examination of the girl revealed she had been stillborn and there was nothing to suggest her death was suspicious.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the girl was born sometime between 3am and 4.30am yesterday at a house in the suburb of Rodney District.
She said the mother had been seen by ambulance and North Shore Hospital staff yesterday morning and police were told of the death in the afternoon.
