KEY POINTS:
Film beauty Scarlett Johansson and the stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar have come top of a poll carried out by British high-performance motor show MPH 07 to find the perfect car and passenger.
MPH 07 is hosted by television's Top Gear team - presenter Jeremy Clarkson and his offsiders, Richard Hammond and James May - and is one of the highlights on Britain's motoring calendar. It brings outrageous motoring theatre together with arena parades and galleries bursting with the fastest and most prestigious cars on the planet, and will be staged at two venues in Britain in November.
Johansson received 23 per cent of the pre-show vote for perfect passenger, narrowly beating the recently crowned sexiest woman in the world, Jessica Alba (22 per cent).
Voters reckoned that the Lost in Translation star and the new Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione are a match made in heaven.
And it seems that when it comes to the perfect passenger, women truly are on top, with the first five positions being taken by female passengers - in third place, model Jodie Kidd (14 per cent) was followed by actress Cameron Diaz in fourth (13 per cent) and Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria in fifth place (10 per cent).
The crown for most popular male passenger was shared by Top Gear's Clarkson (7 per cent) and the show's anonymous test driver, The Stig (7 per cent). They beat Formula One star Lewis Hamilton (2 per cent), soccer hero David Beckham (1 per cent), and James Bond star Daniel Craig (1 per cent).
The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione blew its competition out of the water, scooping a remarkable 30 per cent of the vote. The sports coupe was inspired by the marque's early racing history. The 8C code was used in the 1930s and 1940s to identify the company's V8-powered cars. The name Competizione honours the 6C 2500 Competizione, a coupe driven in Italy's famous 1950 Mille Miglia race by motorsport legend Juan Manuel Fangio.
The coupe is powered by an all-alloy 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 336kW (450bhp) and 470Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox with steering wheel-mounted controls. Inside, the carbon-fibre seats can be adjusted to suit the physical dimensions of driver and passenger.
The Alfa's closets rivals in the MPH 07 poll included the Bugatti Veyron (13 per cent) and the Ferrari F430 (11 per cent).
