A baby narrowly avoided being crushed by a truck which flipped in slippery conditions on Auckland's North Shore today.
Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Esmonde Rd and Barry's Point Rd, Takapuna, about 1.30pm where a truck had landed sideways on a car containing a woman and her baby.
The rear of the truck landed on the boot of the car and had partially crushed the roof above the passengers' seats, where the baby was in a car seat.
Constable Mike McMurtrie, of North Shore Police, said it was fortunate no one was injured.
It appeared the truck had lost control due to the wet, slippery conditions, he said.
The mother and baby were checked at North Shore Hospital but released a short time later.
