The Younans were warned their son Lennox would be a sprinter.
The birth of their first-born, daughter Kennedy, took just two hours and the midwife told them the second child was usually faster.
She was right. It was just 25 minutes from whoa to go when Lennox Younan decided he was ready to see the world.
His mother Nicola woke at 11.40pm on Thursday with contractions and Hadi Younan delivered him in the front seat of the car with one hand.
It was the most fraught 10 minutes of his life, driving Nicola from their Mt Eden home to Birthcare in Parnell.
"I was driving, Nicola was even giving directions, and then she said 'it's coming out, you've got to catch it'. I was in such a panic mode I told her to put her pyjamas back on, and hold it in. I said to do her breathing techniques or something.
"Then all of a sudden the head came out. So I was driving with one hand and holding the head with the other."
By yesterday afternoon, 3kg Lennox was sleeping off his trip while his mother wondered how quickly any third child might appear.
"We figured if Kennedy took two hours, we'd have at least an hour this time round. So I won't be going to the supermarket for a week beforehand, that's for sure. Imagine if I drop it in the frozen foods section."
