KEY POINTS:
A 10-month-old girl taken to the Starship hospital in Auckland with serious head injuries has died.
The girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance from a home in Manurewa on Sunday.
Police said today she had died but would not say when.
They are continuing to investigate how the injuries were received and a post mortem will be carried out this afternoon.
Two homes are being searched in Manurewa and officers said family and friends were being co-operative.
Detective Senior Sergeant Sue Schwalger said officers were investigating what caused the injuries and whether they caused the girl's death.
Police did not yet know whether the death was suspicious.
