Baby for newsreader Wendy Petrie

The mother-to-be of the nation has given birth.

Wendy Petrie, who has just been appointed as One News newsreader from next year, had a daughter on Saturday afternoon.

TVNZ publicist Zara Potts said the child weighed in at 3.5kg and both mother and baby were well.
