A baby boy in Hamilton who was airlifted to Starship Children's hospital with critical injuries on Sunday has died.
The child, understood to be about 9 months old, suffered head injuries after what police say was a domestic-related incident.
Detective Inspector Karl Thornton, Acting Waikato District Crime Manager said a scene examination would continue at the baby's York St home in Hamilton.
He says a number of people are being spoken to in relation to what happened prior to the baby's initial admission to Waikato Hospital.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family at present. We have a substantial number of enquiries to complete before we can establish exactly what has occurred."
