Parents are being warned of the dangers of curtain and blind cords after two infants were strangled by them.
An 11-month-old Hamilton girl died last Thursday in her cot, after appearing to have strangled herself with a curtain cord.
In a separate case, a 13-month-old Bay of Plenty boy died in June from apparent strangulation.
Safekids director Ann Weaver says parents shouldn't place cots by windows.
She says if they do have to put it by the window they should buy a cleat from a hardware or curtain shop which helps tie up the cords.
