Former Act MP Donna Awatere Huata and her husband Wi Huata will be back in court again this year to appeal against their fraud convictions and jail sentences.
The pair learned this week the Court of Appeal would sit in Auckland in October for two days to hear the appeals.
They were convicted in August of six of the seven charges they faced over defrauding the Pipi Foundation of more than $80,000. Awatere Huata is serving a two-year, nine-month jail sentence at Wellington's Arohata Prison. Huata was sentenced to two years' but was granted bail to care for the couple's children until their joint appeal was heard.
