Masterton Intermediate School has celebrated its leading students with a prizegiving ceremony held at Wairarapa College.
Principal Russell Thompson congratulated more than 50 pupils who received Diligence Awards at the ceremony in recognition of their hard work throughout the year.
"Diligence, simply put, is working hard. Well done to those students receiving diligence awards - the diligent habits you have formed will set you all up for success in all areas of your lives."
Pupils who received special areas of achievement included Macy Ngatuere, who received the Maahi Kaka trophy for outstanding commitment and performance in kapa haka, Patrick Jolliffe, who was handed the Carmen Shield for environmental science, the cup for overall contribution to music was awarded to Caitlyn O'Neale, Tui Dugan received the Sportsperson of the Year Award, the Linda Morris Award for outstanding attitude and effort was awarded to Ephraim Smith, and the Mikyla Thompson Award for excellence in visual arts was awarded to Kayleigh O'Brien.
The Brewster Shield for girls' overall contribution to the school was awarded to Olivia Parkinson from a pool of seven nominees, and the McCormack Cup for boys' overall contribution to the school awarded to Liam Moore from a nominee pool of seven students.
