Wairarapa's Lauren McWilliam has won the NZ Rural Ambassador Award at the Royal Agricultural Society Conference in Wellington on the weekend.
The accolade, organised by the society and the New Zealand Young Farmers, recognises excellence and is offered to young people under 30 who are involved in the A&P Show movement and contribute to their community and agriculture.
Ms McWilliam, 24, is the Rural Leadership Programme Manager for the Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre.
The four finalists - Zach Mounsey, Ms McWilliam, Sarah O'Connell and Tryphena Carter - all excelled in their own right, revealed the judges.
To reach the finals they had to go through a selection process at District level before coming through to national level.
